Dentures in Sunnyvale

Comfortable, stable dentures let you chew anything

Historically, dentures have been the solution when someone has lost teeth or need teeth extraction. Over the years, both the fit and the materials used have been improved, and now there are also economical stabilization methods that make them feel and act a lot more like natural teeth.

Dr. Colin Au provides replacement teeth of all kinds and is well-equipped to help patients choose the best solution for their missing teeth or teeth that need extraction.

Consultation and treatment planning

Dentures consultation with Dr. Colin Au.The first step is a comprehensive oral exam with digital X-rays, intraoral and extraoral photography and, in some cases, Dr. Au will get 3D X-rays done to analyze bone depth and density.

Dr. Au’s associate Dr. Scott Dault, is a periodontist, an expert in the gum, bone and dental implant placement. He can evaluate a patient’s records to see if there are alternative solutions to replacing their missing teeth.

Dr. Au meets with you to review your options, discuss the pros and cons of each option, and answer any questions you have.

Denture Stabilization

Denture StabilizationWe recommend using dental implants to stabilize your dentures. Dr. Au can stabilize them with as few as two implants per arch. The more implants used, the greater the stability and the more lifelike they appear.

With several implants per arch we can do away with the false upper palate that covers the roof of your mouth, and can make the denture teeth appear to emerge from the gum.

Why use Denture Stabilization

Bridge Versus Implant

The problem with dentures is that no matter how good the original fit, the denture itself wears away at the bone causing continuous bone loss and requiring the denture to be constantly adjusted. Eventually, there is no bony ridge available for any denture to fit onto.

Implants can make them extremely secure and allow you to eat just about anything you desire.

How Denture Stabilization works

Dr. Au fits your existing or new dentures with snaps that will fit snugly onto dental implants. After your implant surgery, you’ll be able to immediately snap them in and enjoy an improved eating experience!

Dentures stabilized with implants need to be cleaned daily and should be removed at night.
